Special issue call for papers from Journal of Knowledge Management " Knowledge Management in the Not-for-Profit Sector". 

What is the special issue about?

Guest edited by Gillian Ragsdell, Loughborough University (UK), this special issue is an initiative to redress the balance in the knowledge management literature by highlighting the knowledge theories and practices that underpin organisational effectiveness in the not-for profit sector. It will address the following fundamental questions: How do knowledge management theories and practices support the achievement of aims in the not-for-profit sector?

  • How does the not-for-profit sector overcome challenges to effective knowledge management practice?
  • What transferrable lessons does the not-for-profit sector generate for private and public sector knowledge management practice? 

Specific topics we invite you to provide submissions on:

Conceptual, case-based, or empirical papers offering new insights into (but not limited to) the following topics:

  • Management of knowledge in not-for-profit organisations from regional, national and international perspectives
  • Managing knowledge flows between policy makers and the voluntary sector
  • Managing knowledge practices between not-for-profit organisations 
  • Managing knowledge for the benefit of users 
  • Management of volunteer knowledge
